The Maine Women's Balkan Choir is a diverse group of women. They are gardeners, journalists, teachers, artists, high school students, grandmothers, park rangers, nurses, and mothers. They share their love for traditional Eastern European music with enthusiastic audiences throughout Maine.

The choir helped bring the Bisserov Sisters to the United States in 2002 for concerts and special Maine workshops. They are currently working with award-winning Bulgarian folk singer Elitsa Stoineva, whom they discovered working at Rite-Aid in Bar Harbor! Their latest goal is to organize a Bulgarian cultural exchange tour for the entire choir.
