When the state-owned factories closed following the collapse of
the communist system, Boyan and his wife decided to preserve Bulgaria's
fine woolen craftmanship - by starting their own small factory in
Lozen, their village located just outside of the capital city.
In
2001, they purchased a much larger facility with modern spinning
and weaving equipment. This new factory has given them the ability
to train and hire more workers and to begin exporting their blankets
to the United States. |
